On July 26, 2019, Katharina Fegebank, the second mayor and Senator for Equal Opportunities, opened Pride Week in Hamburg and with it an enhanced exhibition on ‘Max is Marie. My son is my daughter is my child’, which can still be visited until August 15, 2019 in the foyer of the Hamburg Town Hall.
‘It is and remains a mission for all of us to stand up for diversity and be sensitized when our freedom and fundamental values are attacked. (…) Trans* as well as Inter*people, lesbians, gays and bisexuals have every right to develop their gender identity and sexuality. The rights and needs of LGBTI* must be seen for what they are – a matter of course. Hamburg will continue to make a strong commitment to this in the future’, were Katharina Fegebank’s encouraging words.
Further information on the Senate reception and an insight into my speech at the opening of the exhibition can be found here.
